Treatment options available
Surgery and chemotherapy are the most commonly used treatments for cancer. Surgery is required to remove tumours that have been diagnosed malignant through diagnostic testing.
Chemotherapy in humans can be quite aggressive, and can cause unwanted side affects. Fortunately, when we consider chemotherapy in pets, an altogether different approach is taken. When our pets receive chemotherapy, the aim is to maintain their quality of life at it’s absolute best, whilst at the same time giving them as much time with their owners as possible. This means we usually use much lower doses and don’t tend to give treatment quite so often. What can be expected with treatment varies incredibly between the many different forms of cancer, however in all cases our goal is NOT to cause ANY kind of unwelcome side effect at all.
